Things have quietened down a bit at the mo, a little dissapointing but we are still getting a good footfall so the hope is there that the autumn will bring steady trade.
There are as I have probably said before many reasons that we give for why trade is up or down - the credit crunch, school holidays, sunny weekends the list is endless but there is certainly an upbeat mood out there at the moment, customers seem to be.... well positive.
Devonshire Pine have just launched a few new items to go with their New Oak and Rustic Oak furniture ranges including a new range of home office furniture.
Also we have some new items from our Vancouver Oak range that are due in at the end of the month and the images will soon be on our website Best Price Furniture where will be shortly launching a new selection of leather sofas and armchairs and a fantastic corner sofa for under £1000!!

Watch this space (and of course if you get a mo check out the website Best Price Furniture) for the best selection of solid oak furniture, solid pine furniture, leather, chairs, tables.....well you get the idea, a good selection of furniture at the best price!!

Furniture for Trees is still ongoing and now we have planted more than 25,000 trees!!
We have for the last couple of weeks doubled our efforts and for every single piece of furniture that we have sold we now plant not just one but two trees....
The showrooms are looking better than ever here and we are pleased to say that the arrival of the Rough Sawn range from CPW Furniture has been well recieved and is selling nicely and that is a reflection of the times with the
Vancouver Oak / Woodlore Oak / Rustic Oak also doing extremly well, oak furniture has become more affordable and certainly more available over the last 4 years or so but there is a definate lean towards the more rustic style of furniture, with a "warmer" appearance and a pleasing "worn" look to it, although the contemporary design of say the Devonshire New Oak or Corndell's Country Oak or Sylvawood Furniture's Verona Oak is still a strong seller, shabby chique is going to be around for a while!

Hello to you all! Hope that this post finds you well and enjoying the sunshine!! I know - its been a while and when it finally popped its fiery presence through the clouds it was quite a shock, although for some it also removed any normal reasoning skills - I mean who would want to go to Bournemouth beech with 1.3 million other people ... Christ I have seen a tin of pilchards less crammed than the beach on Sunday!

Still even with all this loss of reasoning there at least seems to be some normality returning to life in general - oh yes back to the credit crunch - it seems that things are looking up!!
The news today was actually filled with people reporting a huge rise in confidence about the economy - I couldn't believe me ears, finally there is a positive line being taken by the media - I know that the sun has a positive effect on people but this was just to incredible to believe, I had to take a lie down...

I have to say though that there is a general feeling that we are through the worst of it, now I say that without trying to jinx any future improvements and so I have everything crossed and I do have a lucky rabbits foot to hand (where did I put that shamrock....), now we all know that there will be a rise in interest rates later this year and what of VAT, but here at A World of Furniture things are not too bad.

Oak furniture sales seem to be on a steady kilter with pine almost matching it pound for pound (the end of June saw our busiest week of the year!!) we are now seeing a bit of a slow down but this naturally occurs in the summer anyway, the kids are still off school and with the sun shining like it is we are lucky to do any trade at all, but all in all its been a darn good summer so far.

And so with baited breath we await the approach of the Autumn which we all hope will see steady trade and no nasty surprises by the Bank of England, we have most of our displays in place, Newland Oak, Vancouver Oak, Rustic Oak, Mobel Oak, Badger Pine, Chunky Pine, Tarka Pine, Old Mill Pine (.....with more arriving soon CPW Kristina Painted furniture, Sylvawood's Opus Painted Furniture all to be seen at Best Price Furniture ) and a dollop of confidence and a bucket of positive thinking we shall get through this rough patch and grow even stronger on the other side.

We are currently looking for a new location in Southampton - so watch this space!!

Grim out there...

While things are looking a bit grim out there (and I am not just talking financial markets) it is our job to make things look as bright and chirpy as possible and this is why today with the help of all the team we have just installed a brand new range in our showroom!
The Rough Sawn Range from CPW is the newest addition to an already ernormous portfolio of ranges, this is a chunky solid pine range with large metal hinges and handles with planking effect cut into the top surfaces across all of the pieces and is now available from A world of furniture as are all of the ranges from CPW.
Yes it is a gloomy out there, but what is the point of being down beat, we like to be positive and invest in new products and give a continuing fresh feel to our showrooms and a change as they say is as good as a rest!
So either come on down to our showrooms in Salisbury, Poole or Blandford or have a look at CPW's website and give us a call on 01722 413532 for the best prices to be had and dont forget that for every piece of furniture that you buy we will plant a tree, and so far we have planted over 20,000 trees!!

Still planting trees!!

Yup, we are still going, we have so far planted over 20,000 trees and we are still going!!

We realise that we are taking from the environment a huge amount of resources and this is just one way that we have decided to combat this and try to replenish our local forests and woodland by supporting the Forestry Commision.

Most of the replanting is occuring in the local area such as the New Forest and Savernake forests, but we have not stopped at just doing this, we now recycle all of our cardboard and packaging with a dedicated roll on roll off skip at both Blandford and West Dean, so far we have recycled in excess of 25 tonnes of cardboard and paper.

There are many other things that we can and will implement to help the environment and I will keep you updated as to new developments of our environmental policy.

Trading standards to investigate Oak Furniture supplier.

The increasingly fierce competition for business amongst furniture retailers could, it seems, be descending into the realms of the illegal. It has been reported that Trading Standards Officers are investigating claims that the Norfolk furniture retailer Pine Solutions is passing off products as coming from West Country-based company Devonshire Pine Ltd. when they are in fact lower quality products imported from elsewhere.
Over the years Devonshire Pine has earned a good reputation amongst furniture retailers and consumers for its oak furniture ranges, including the Devonshire New Solid Oak range. Pine Solutions, until recently a Devonshire Pine stockist, has started selling what it describes as ‘New Devon Oak’ furniture.

The styling is similar to Devonshire New Solid Oak products although the prices are significantly lower. These activities have caused confusion amongst customers and concern for retailers. “Customers think they are getting the genuine item at a discount price, but when they take delivery, the lower grade of finish and generally poorer quality lead them to think that Devonshire Pine Ltd is no longer producing the sort of quality on which it has built its reputation,” said one retailer. “In the long term both the stockists of the genuine Devonshire Pine Ltd ranges and their customers will suffer if this problem is left unchecked.”Customers are advised to check with Devonshire Pine Ltd to ensure the retailer is an official stockist. Points to look for on the non-genuine furniture include drawer bases, drawer runners and cabinet backs not being made from oak, a generally poorer finish and the use of lower grade Chinese Oak for construction, rather than the American Oak used in Devonshire Pine Ltd’s products. One of Devonshire Pine Ltd’s leading retailers is A world of furniture in Salisbury, Poole and Blandford with our online site http://www.bestpricefurniture.co.uk/
