As I am sure some of you are aware this event happened back in October 27th (see told you it was old news ;0) ) and he is fantastic , a little chubby now and eating us out of house and home! (yes thank you - he is just like his father!) but he is very cute and I will post some piccies as soon as I can.

Tin Tin and Butler hit the silver screen - again!!

Yes its true that 2 of our rising stars here at A world of furniture have hit the silver screen and are at the moment in make up for the third instalment of the now infamous Have I Got Wood For You series!!
Its taking the entertainment world by storm with a whopping 67 hits on You Tube and now doubt will be featured heavily on next years Rude Tube as the all time biggest video download on there...

To see the actors in person pop on over to the Chandlers Ford branch where they will be doing an appearance for autographs, but be quick as already Tin Tin has already been showing diva-ish signs and it can not be too long now until he starts being locked away in his trailer for long periods of time with Snowy and demanding freshly squeezed yaks milk blended with moon dust and filtered through a bed of dodo feathers - well you now how these types get!!

Anyway have a little look at the new installment (and if you havn't already seen it, shame on you, have a look at the first one too..) and tell all of your friends -you will find just a click from here: Tin Tin and Butler enjoy!!

Phew!!

Hello to you all - how are you doing post World Cup? Are you over it yet? Up for a bit of Euro acti- what's that.......oh OK.......I shall move on ;oP

Anyone up for a bit of solid oak and pine action..... if you are you will have to hurry because we are selling out fast!!
Chandlers Ford A world of furniture has been open just 4 weeks now but it feels like its been an eternity - it's been soooo busy, with no advertising done it's all been about word of mouth and the rumour mill has been working wonders thus far, I cannot wait to see how it goes when we finally do unleash later in the year.
It has been hard work - people are still wary of spending at the mo and even more so with a shop that has only just started - but it is fun building a relationship with the customers, gaining their trust, getting to know them and what it is that they like in this area, making sure they know that we are not "here today and gone tomorrow".
Hats off to the new guys Ben and Charles who are getting to grips with it all and are doing fantastically well, they really have been given a baptism of fire over the last couple of weeks!

Baby news.......... its getting close now, for those of you that don't know my wife is now 33 weeks gone and all is well, we have no idea what it's going to be (although I know it's going to be a boy - obviously....) it is a magical thing, it did a massive kick the other day which freaked me out a little bit!! We have just been to a birthing class which although very informative my attention span is very short and I was soon giggling like an idiot at the slightest innuendo with much eye rolling from Judy - I don't know how she puts up with me!!

New store has arrived!!

What a month it has been!!
England had the most abysmal showing at the World Cup, then we tried to adopt Andy Murray in the vane hope that we could garner some sporting pride from the summer and ...... well it went better but was still a slight disaster, but looking on the bright side English cricketers are looking pretty good and can the Maclaren lads do a good turn at Silverstone.... we wait and see.

But enough of sport - the new store in Chandlers Ford is now well and truly up and at 'em!!
At last, it took a couple of weeks and a bit of blood, sweat and tears but we are here and ready to bring the word of Solid Wood to the masses! Hurrah!!

The only thing that we need now is some rubbish weather, its all very well you guys going out there and sunning yourself on some beach or other, having BBQ's and planting shrubberies after an afternoon in the local garden centre, but where's the good in that I ask you, there is wood to be bought, rugs to laid on otherwise bare wooden flooring, mirrors and prints to adorn the lonely bare spaces on your walls and of course staff to be cheered, the ones that you have abandoned in favour of the BBQ's, tanning and shrubberies!! How very dare you!

Anyhoo we look forward to seeing you soon at the new extension of the empire here at Chandlers Ford, ta ta....

Something stirs.......

Oh yes something is most definitely stirring at A world of furniture, well just take a look at what's already happened - a new website (which is looking fantastic- I know it's boasting - but it just is OK?) - new ranges (check out the all new One Range, Chateau Antique Painted and the solid oak Plank ranges) and now there are rumours galore of a new store!!
Calm at the back please.....
It's true I tells ya - there be another amazing solid wood superstore soon to be docking in Southampton!!
Exciting times ahead yes indeedy, this is only a small step in our attempt for world supremacy you understand, but I think you will agree that it is of major strategic importance when looking at global domination!!
In the mean time try and keep calm - it will no be long, just keep checking in and I will keep you posted.
And while this glorious event unfolds there is obviously another truly monumental event happening this week..... you mean you haven't heard......you know that football thingymebob, oh whats it called, you know, the erm.... the ......... oh yes the World Cup that's it!!
Another tournament where England are in a great position to win the the coveted Jules Rimet Trophy and end the 44 years of hurt, reliving the golden era of the 1966 world cup yadda yadda..... I know I should give out some positive Karma but does anyone really believe and I mean really believe this is possible??
I mean did anyone see the game against Japan?
Yes I will be getting into the spirit of it all, a few beers, maybe the odd BBQ, getting my amazing pundit mind all fired up so that if I were Capello I would know exactly what to do when we are losing against Argentina for the upteenth time, this time it will be different though as I will also have (along with the usual optimism) the England team Emo airbag that once we have been knocked out of the Cup - again - it will be deployed immediately to stop the bottom lip quivering, the disbelieving eyes from becoming all watery and the mind from twisting all that had happened in the previous 90 mins (or 145 ish after the dreaded penalty shoot out) was not our teams fault at all and it was the ref's bloody fault for giving Rooney the evil eye in the tunnel before we came back on after half time tea and cakes!!

Nah your right of course we can win it - COME ON ENGLAND!!!! Here we go again ha ha....

Vote for Solid Wood!!!

You know all of this talk about the election has got me to thinking - what about a hung parliment?
Well I think that as a company we have come up with the solution and have created our party - the Popular Peoples Front of Solid Oak (and Pine) Furniture - catchy eh?
The basis of this is, we will come up with such a stunning manifesto that it will swing the undecided vote, giving us the power to take over the world and............ I mean join in a coalition government and "hold the people to ransom" who needs Nick Clegg?

Some of our manifesto could read as follows:
  1. Free wood shavings for all school children
  2. Best prices on all of our sumptuous furniture
  3. Sack any member of government who does not give up the right to an expense account
  4. Delivery within 4 weeks - (not taking into account, Bank Holidays, Volcanoes, strikes by the biscuit workers union, high breezes on the M42......)
  5. Taking all of your purchases into the room of your choice - for free (its ok the heady feeling will pass)
  6. Taking all of the packaging away with us - for free (are you alright - you look a bit pale?)
  7. If you decide you do not like it before 28 days we will collect it - the only thing we ask of you is to pay another delivery fee which for you lucky locals (SP postcode) is only a tenner!!
Ok, ok, I will leave the rest of this heady manifesto until another time, you looked like having a coronary then, well it is a lot too take in, but these are just a few simple things that we do every day.
We serve you the customer in the best possible way, as only we ourselves would like to be served if we were the other side of the counter.
So when next you see a poster on the side of the road saying "Vote for change" or "Change your vote" or "Have you got spare change" then think of :

A world of furniture - The solid wood superstores

oh yes and the Popular Peoples Front of Solid Oak (and Pine) Furniture

Solid wood - best price - quick delivery - simples.........

Who goes there???

Its been a while since I was on here last and so I thought it was about time I dropped in and say hi....
Things were fantastic over Christmas - what happened??
Momentum lost because of the snow I hear you cry or maybe it is the lack of sunshine that is making us all depressed and keeping us indoors consoling ourselves with the thought that summer will be along shortly where we can once again air those dodgy shorts, venture out into the sun drenched land scape and out of hibernation, or (and this is possibly my favourite) its because the politicians are philandering again and spending all of our hard earned cash - well I suppose that this is bloody annoying and yes they should all be dragged over hot coals and forced to eat mud- but lets face facts, politicians have always been up to no good, put someone in charge of vast resources and a gullible public and you will all turn from the polished good Samaritan (though I am not sure that any politician can be called a good Samaritan) who would like to change the world to... well basically human.

The weather has always been a changeable beast, it does undoubtedly slow when its, too hot, too cold, too wet, to windy, too sunny, too...... well the list goes on (no doubt last weekend there were too many leaves on the road and people couldn't get out of their driveways...) and yes lack of sunshine makes even the most joyous of people only slightly depressed.

But all in all I think its just the fact that there is just a little more uncertainty than normal, new government impending, the Pound is...... well rubbish and so is the Dollar, the Euro, in fact most currencies are shot, banks are still gambling huge amounts of our cash and losing (and still getting huge bonuses for the privilege of playing the worlds largest casino...) unemployment is rocketing with everyone looking at each other thinking "who is next", petrol is rising at its fastest rate (where are the picket lines when you need them?) and small businesses struggling to keep afloat in an ever slowing market.

And what shall we do about it - keep positive - put a smile on your face and keep positive, yes it probably will get worse before it gets better but there is not much you can do about that, sure make sure that product is working well for you, you are not spending where you could save, cost cut where you can but still keep up stock levels (people still expect it quickly) but more over give a customer confidence - because lets face it they need a bit right now - so give them a smile, your best sales patter and do it with pride and confidence and who knows maybe it will rub off on them and we can get back to the way things were!!
